Once, I was a BBC TV Production trainee working on everything from Tomorrow's World to Horizon and Modern Times. My first film Back to the Floor : A Class Apart was the winner of an RTS award. I series directed four hours The Dome: Trouble at the Big Top in which labour kingpin Peter Mandelson tried to work out how the British people should have fun. I took a break from tv for six years and wrote two books. Since then I've made films about the medical ethics, and sometimes about East Africa. I also sat on the Nuffield Council for Bioethics - contributing to policy process of new medical technologies.
